Fucoxanthin
Overview Of Fucoxanthin
Fucoxanthin is a type of carotenoid found naturally in edible brown seaweed such as hijiki, which is used widely in Asian cuisine. Studies done by Asian scientist are now discovering when the Fucoxanthin is isolated it can have beneficial effects on ones health. Now Fucoxanthin has become available as a nutritional supplement in capsule form and can be found in some health food stores and online.
Fucoxanthin continues to be on constant scrutiny, so far it appears to target a protein called UCP1 that increases the rate at which abdominal fat is burned. Fucoxanthin also appears to stimulate the production of DHA, one of the omega-3 fatty acids found in fatty fish such as salmon. It is evolving to become a promising nutritional supplement, more research is needed to determine if fucoxanthin will work in the same way in humans rather than on rats. If it does prove to be effective, fucoxanthin could be developed into renowned diet pill for obesity.

Overall Impression Of Fucoxanthin
Evidently there has been one conclusive study, that study showed Fucoxanthin resulted in 10% decrease in abdominal fat of two rats. This has been regarded as the anti-obesity effect and now has been rumored to being a possible cure of obesity. Other than this no other sources such as the FDA have confirmed that Fucoxanthin is an anti-obesity solution.
If you are absolutely convinced that Fucoxanthin is the way to go I suggest using Fucoxanthin along with other ingredients with a better track record.

My daughter aged 17 years has been taking a combination of supplements to stay thin. Can you tell me what harm is being done to my daughter when she takes Fucoxanthin?
There is no body fat at all on her but it is a big concern as to how this will affect her health in later years?
@A Parent
I appreciate your concerns as I have kids of my own, the oldest is 10. We would recommend speaking with your physician about the health risks as they relate to adolescents. An over all recommendation would be to take more mild or herbal supplements. Thanks for visiting the site and hopefully others will comment also.
